Fairy boo I love you!

So I was doing a thing for the Fairy Boo set, and I stuffed it up. Put it aside and tried again and didn't stuff it up but didn't get the sizing right (the problem with never ever using patterns LOL). So Miss A is gonna do alright there I think.

Anyways tonight started sewing the Boo part and had a thought about one bit of it, and what do you know the thing I stuffed up in the first place was just big enough to use for this idea!! And it looks deadset brilliant (in my terribly humble opinion LOL).

Doncha love it when you get away with a random piece of smartarsery?

This set... OMG... some little girl is gonna be so spoiled!

The ultimate hyena slot...

The Cauldron will be restocking on Wednesday 9th August at 9pm.

As per our last stocking, all items (aside from auctions) will be up for preview from 6pm AEST so everyone gets the chance to make sure their preferred items are suitable in terms of fit before the frenzy begins.

But this time we have an extra special offer which will be happening between now and next Wednesday.

During the next week, 3 extra special hyena slots will be released at random times (ie whenever we think to load one LOL).

So what will a hyena slot win you?

The chance to make your purchases before the general release at 9pm! What hyena worth their salt could bear to miss out on an opportunity like that?!

So how will it work?

The hyena slots will be priced at $5 (to be paid after the restock) which will cover postage of their purchases.

Winners MUST be online on Wednesday evening, and once the listings are up for preview they can make their choices. The winner of the first slot released must email thecauldron@unrealnappies.com.au with their choices by 7pm AEST and those purchases will then be marked sold.

The second slot winner may then make their choices, and email them by 7.30pm.

The third and final slot winner can then choose their favourites and email them by 8pm.

All pre-hyenaed items will be listed as sold when the full release happens at 9pm and at that stage it will be first in best dressed as per usual.

In the instance that a slot winner doesn't find anything to their liking, no charge will be incurred.

Please note hyena slot purchases do not apply to items for auction.

So keep an eye on www.ozebaby.com.au over the next week and happy hyena hunting!!

Quiet around here lately...

Probably because we've been working so hard!

I am kicking goals at the moment! Which is ace because I've been asked to work again this Friday and having lost my child free sewing day every week (to paid work, so all good) I've been a bit worried about getting stuff done in time. Freaked out completely last time by leaving it all a bit late in the day so happy to be well on top of things at the moment.

So far I have finished (bar snapping which will happen tomorrow):

* 10 x series nappies - super cute IMHO
* 2 x COAP sets and one left to sew
* One super dooper boy set... just need to put elastic in the waistband
* The COAP part of a really special girl set

Still have to do:

* Last COAP set
* Rest of the girl set
* Op shop then Knockers
* 2 x WW sets

And the main reason that I have the urge to blog is because Leah, I really don;t know if I'm gonna be able to part with the girl set.

The COAP part of it is to die for! This is the most beautiful fabric I have ever sewn I think... I could weep! May well do so when I see what you'vedone with the other bits tomorrow!!

Ok, this is a much improved logo for the gorgoues collection - first of many! Drink to that!

I think we're all lined up for tonight, last minute safety checks required and perhaps a brief dance with the printer and iron if I get the opportunity.

House : feral! Turning off the PC for a few hours so I don't get dobbed into the CFA, DOCS, EPA or maybe even CSIRO!

first second :)

This is a second, I tried to keep it as a first but Kate is very stringent :) The fault with this item is that the overlocking isn't as even as she'd like.

Beautiful dark teal floral imported cotton outer, bamboo velour inner, overlocked in maroon - gorgeous and gender neutral IMO! It's mates are going out under the "asia blue" banner tomorrow night, thus guy gets the fly the coop early :)

Here is it's stats

Nappy Construction
The outer is imported 100% cotton print. The body is made up of one full layer of hemp (hemp 55%, cotton 45%) and the lining is Bamboo Velour (70% bamboo, 30% Organic Cotton). The lay in booster is 2 layers of bamboo velour and 2 layers of hemp. This is a trim day weight nappy, with 6 layers of absorbent material in the wetzone.

Nappy Size

We estimate this nappy will fit from birth to 9 kilos.

Rise (elastic relaxed, folded down) - 25cms
Rise (elastic stretched) - 38cms
Waist (smallest snap setting, elastic relaxed) - 20cms
Waist (largest snap setting, elastic stretched) - 44cms

We are letting this baby go for $25 including post (on this item alone).

If you can give it a good home, post a comment in this blog with your email address and we'll contact you with payment details :) First in, best dressed bum :)

Cliff Notes for The Spruik

ie if you don't get the version we've put out there, read this :D

THE PROLOGUE - The bit at the start

[Enter Chorus.] - The chorus enters

Chor. - The chorus say this bit. Together at the same time. That's why they are called the Chorus.

Two households, both alike in dignity,

In fair Melbourne, where we lay our scene,

Two chicks and their families live in Melbourne.

That's where it all happens.

From ancient arts break to new fantasties,

Where civil dyes make busy hands unclean.

Dyeing has been done for a long time, it's not like we invented it or anything. But we think we do some pretty newish and fun stuff anyways.

We do some dyeing, and it makes our hands dirty.

From forth the fatal minds of these two friends

A myriad of star-cross'd nappies find their life;

Not entirely sure why our minds are fatal, or why our nappies are star crossed either for that matter.

But we make lots of different ones... give them life so to speak.

Whose much imagined unique overtones

Doth with their purchase bury their makers' strife.

No ego at all, but we like to think that people imagine what a restock at The Cauldron might hold. Probably dreaming.

And when people buy our stuff, it is really good because we can pay our bills.

The fabulous passage of their dye-mark'd love,

And the continuance of their makers' image,

We post dyed nappies.

When we post dyed nappies people sometimes talk about them around the place. We like that a lot.

Which but their nappies' sale naught could remove,

Is now the brief hours' traffic of our store;

If you buy a nappy, it is gone. As in, no-one else can buy it. That's a really bad interpretation of the original text by the way.

And we hope to get a lot of traffic at our store... makes us feel a bit good about the work that goes into the restocks. We hope it will be brief, because that means people like what we are doing!

The which, if you with patient eyes attend,

What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.

If you watch the store, you will see what we have.

Pretty simple really!

one week till stocking :)

Just thought I'd write an update in case anyone is watching :)

Boss Lady is interstate and she sent the stock via the ever lovely Shae at playgroup. Ace Ace Ace!! DP got a new camera today so hoping he will photograph it for me tonight. No more 5 hour photo shoots hopefully :)

We are seriously considering viewing the products for a few hours before the stocking next week. We love watching the OzeBaby shoppers number climb when we stock, love the support of people eager to buy what we've made, but we feel in our heart of hearts that the frenzy is not in the best interests of our customers primarily, and ourselves as well. We'd much prefer people spend their hard earned money on our made with love products once they've had a chance to consider what they can realistically use and afford and love :) Makes it more fun for everyone, even tho the electronic version of the stocktake sale at Myers does have more excitement :)

The lollypops came out a lot paler than I planned, which is pretty much par for the course when it comes to me and dye :) Tho many love pastels over brights and I am really happy with the affect so I am sure once Kate gets her hands on it my disappointment at the intensity will fade (pun haha!) rapidly :)

On a personal note, I do think I washed my last load of nappies for Audrey today *aaaaw* gush gush. She is doing pretty well on the potty, she wears a nappy overnight but it's mostly dry (which has always been the case for a long time now, she just used to get up and wee in it in that first hour or so mostly). So I have a few on the clothes horse and a few to dry and then that's it for washing any more loads I dare say ... will continue to put her in a night nappy for awhile given this is all brand new and we cosleep and I don't want to rely on her to not wake up in a puddle :) But I'll just swap out the liners each day and wash them every few days with normal laundry. So, until I have another baby, that part of our life is on the way out. Oh nappies I have loved you!! :)
